Hold onto your hats, because Xiaomi, the tech giant you know for phones and gadgets, just unveiled an electric vehicle, Xiaomi SU7.
It’s time to forget the conspicuous hybrids – the Xiaomi SU7 is a sleek, high-performance electric vehicle that wants to redefine the autonomous driving experience. It has given Tesla a run for their money!
They have not just made another sophisticated electric sedan, but an elegant design (here we can agree it looks like a Tesla but way better with the sculpted curves).
Xiaomi: From Smartphones to Home to Electric Cars, Completing the Circle of Life?
Xiaomi have created what they are calling Human x Car x Home ecosystem. Do they want to want to control all areas?
Apart from phones, Xiaomi also makes high quality home devices from TVs, Soundbars, and Nanny Cameras among others.
I can proudly say that I was among the very first adopters of Xiaomi phones in Kenya, I got my very Redmi 3S back in 2016 (tell me if you knew Xiaomi back then especially if you are in Africa) while fresh from campus.
The phone served me very well and I have never looked, I just upgraded to their flagship Mi 8 series phone and I can tell you always get value for your me. Tell which android phone you can use for up to 3 years without any problems.
I think I just found what will be my first electric car once it gets here. I can bet that the Xiaomi SU7 will be the first Chinese made vehicle to capture a good global market share.
Xiaomi Unveils the Xiami SU7 Electric Autonomous Driving Car
Xiaomi has been developing the Xiaomi SU7 electric car under the code name MS11. They officially introduced and unveiled the SU7 on 28th December 2023 in widely attended event (named Xiaomi EV Technology Launch) which attracted global attention.
The unveiling was after rigorous research, development and testing to come up with very impressive numbers.
With this upcoming new electric car, you don’t have to choose between speed and range it offers both. There is this joke in Kenya that everytime there is a power blackout only Xiaomi phone users are left online, lol. The same seems o apply with Xiaomi SU7 which are
Xiaomi SU7 Models
The SU7 comes in two models; Xiaomi SU7 Max and Xiaomi SU7.
i. Xiaomi SU7 Max
The Xiaomi SU7 Max is the Usain Bolt of the two, a dual-motor (HyperEngine V8s), all-wheel-drive monster that leaves Tesla Model S and Porsche Taycan in its dust. It does 0-100km/hr in 2.78 seconds!
According to the Xiaomi SU7 official website, Xiaomi SU7 Max has a top speed of 265 km/hr which pretty impressive.
The Xiaomi SU7 can do a range of up to 800 kilometers on a single charge, enough to take you from Mombasa to Kisumu without low battery warning. And if you need a quick recharge, a mere 5-minute charge can take up to 220 kilometers – perfect for coffee stops or even bathroom breaks leaving Tesla owners envious.
But here is the thing about the SU7 Max – it is not just about raw power. It is about intelligent luxury. Imagine cruising down the highway, hands off the wheel (thanks to the autonomous driving system) while the Dolby Atmos speakers entertain you after a hard day at work.
Do you need to check your emails while on the road? No problem, the familiar HyperOS operating system, like the one on your Xiaomi phone, is right there on the sleek dashboard, seamlessly blending your digital life with the open road.
Xiaomi SU7 Max comes in various unique colours which include Aqua Blue, Mineral Grey, and Olive Green. Imagine the sun shining on your Aqua Blue paint , making your neighbors green with envy (pun intended).
ii. Xiaomi SU7
This is the small brother of the SU7 Max. However, the standard Xiaomi SU7 is still a force to notice. It comes with a single, rear-wheel-drive motor (Xiaomi HyperEngine V6/V6s).
The Xiaomi SU7 range is 668 kilometers, it’s the perfect balance of performance and eco-friendly efficiency. Plus, it still boasts a sporty 5.3-second 0-100 km/h sprint, which is sure to put a smile on any speed junkie.
The Xiaomi SU7 has a top speed of 210 km/hr.
The SU7 has a 5-star safety rating, which is very important for electric cars with lithium batteries.
Xiaomi SU7 comes in the following colours; Aqua Blue, Mineral Grey, and Verdant Green.

Xiaomi SU7: Tesla under siege?
But the SU7 isn’t just about numbers and tech specs. It is about reimagining the way we drive. It’s about the freedom of the open road and the fun of pushing the limits. All this wrapped in a package that is as comfortable as your living room (minus the cat hair, hopefully).
It’s the future of electric driving, arriving in stunning shades of Aqua Blue, Olive Green, and Verdant Green, a splash of color on the otherwise drab asphalt canvas.
Now, I know what you’re thinking: “When can I get my hands on this electric dream machine?” Well, take a chill pill, because mass production starts in the first half of 2024.
That means while you’re finishing your holiday shopping and plotting your New Year’s resolutions, the SU7 will be quietly refining its roar, getting ready to take the world by storm.
For me I think Tesla is under siege considering what Xiaomi phones did to Apple and Samsung taking a huge portion of their marketshare.
Final Verdict
So, here’s my question: are you ready for the Xiaomi SU7 revolution? Which model is calling your name – the all-conquering SU7 Max or the sleek and efficient SU7?
Let’s discuss in the comments and share our dreams of electric road trips and autonomous adventures. The future is just around the corner, and Xiaomi is leading the charge, one stunning sedan at a time.
P.S. Stay tuned for updates on TechPiton on pricing and specific launch dates. Trust me, you won’t want to miss this ride.
